Not by any stretch the "ultimate" production of Dreigroschenoper, as it has been muddled down to fit American expectations some. Happy endings are less our 'stock-in-trade' than our craving in the face of exigent circumstances. I just don't know if Americans can ever be as matter of fact as Brecht requires. A major feature are some of the names and faces that went on to other productions in films and television. People like Paul Dooley and Charlotte Rae. Yeah, that Charlotte Rae.
