An experienced non-fiction writer, Greenlaw's fiction debut is a little bumpy. The dialogue and plot are good. Things get a bit clunky when her descriptions get too wordy and some passages (in a seafaring sort of way) a little too purple. Later books in the series are better, but fans who like Jane Bunker will want to read this one. Just don't feel like you have to start with it.

Just didn't get into the book. The writing was light and easy to read. There was not really a good hook or back story. Murder mystery, with the heroine going to solve it on her own.

I don't have either Slip Knot or Though Not Dead. I did not borrow them.
