Excellent serial killer, FBI novel. About a ex- FBI man recently retired - who recently had a heart transplant - doing one last job when the sister of his donor was brutally shot point-blank in a grocery store. I highly recommend it. The story was well spaced, an easy read, and compelling. Very good. Would like to read more of Michael Connelly.
Connelly doesn't know how to write a bad book. Terry is a former FBI agent who has received a heart transplant, and that hooks the reader right away. The seond hook is that a beautiful woman asks him to find the murderer of her sister, who was the donor of his heart. The book has action, but most of all it has rational thinking and a clever plot.

One of Connelly''s best novels, BLOOD WORK follows former FBI agent Terrill (Terry) McCaleb, recovering from a heart transplant, as he searches for the murderer of the woman whose heart he received. Tense, taught and masterfully written, BLOOD WORK was the first of Connelly''s books that I read, and remains my favourite. Winner of the Grand Prix (highest honour for a mystery novel in France), and the Anthony and Macavity Awards in 1998. Don''t bother with the 2002 movie adaptation; it differs monumentally from the book in many elemental ways -- including the villain and the ending(!).
