4-stars - Picked this up off the display shelf, read a few pages, took it home but really wasn't expecting more than just another writer's take on the vast written history of the RS. Surprise -- this book excels. Foremost, Cohen is a good writer & when he "hits the nail" (which he does in a number of places scattered throughout the book) he does so beautifully, with clear minded intelligence about who the RS were and what was going on around them. I get why Rolling Stone (the mag.) flew him around in Jann Wenner's plane and allowed him to spend weeks on tour with the band.
So give it a go --I say this as someone who bought "5x5" when it first came out (first LP I ever owned) and who lived in the London in the mid-late 60's.

Meh. That's about all I can muster for a review of this latest Rolling Stones biography. Most of the book is simply borrowed from previously released books/articles/interviews. Nothing new to add, really. No new insights. Probably only interesting if you basically know nothing about the Stones.
