god these British were annoying. but yeah the movie is about a utilitarian philisophical question. Should you sacrifice many for one? Or sacrifice one for many? Or not do anything and let fate decide the option for you?
The girl pissed me off. She literally stole a guy's money and went back to reselling the bread that he already purchased.

Since I mainly watch documentaries, I was skeptical of the strong recommendation friends gave to this movie. It was very well done and I thought the acting was very good. Of course, I don't know how realistic the scenario is, or how accurate the interplay between countries in this sort of situation is, I found the dilemma of needs of the many balancing with the needs of the few heart-wrenching. Strongly recommend this for anyone (middle school and older).

Very well done movie about the personal costs of war. A look from all sides (except that of the terrorists) at the consequences of the decisions made. War is always terrible and this movie is heartbreaking on so many levels. The actions taken affect the people making them for a lifetime. I would recommend this movie. I would watch this a second time.

This is a very realistic and disturbing portrayal of war, the decisions that must be made, and the consequences of those decisions. If this was a must see for every voter, out nation may slow down voting war mongers into office.

I really didn't expect this to be such a cringe worthy, emotional movie. To think that these types of decisions have to be made within a matter of seconds is unnerving. Worth the time to check it out.

An apologia for the use of drones. We're supposed to believe that the high-tech gadgetry used in the story is the norm: for the greater good, important moral choices can be finessed from afar; with cooperation between countries and the highest level leaders; that finely wrought-out difficult decisions are the norm; rather than the blatant disregard of morality, comprehensive collateral damage and the ill will that it generates. Winning hearts and minds, indeed! It kinda makes me mad to see this kind of propaganda being shucked off as entertainment or even food for thought.

Fast-paced and intense plot re: the costs of "collateral damage" in drone strikes. Mirren and Rickman are great. The African family that gets caught up in the cross-hairs play a nuanced role: the father, despite Sharia law, quietly rebels by teaching his daughter at home, and the mother makes her an integral part of their home business as they work hard to survive in a harsh environment. Aisha Takow does an amazing job playing the little girl.

Always great to see Hellen Mirren and Allan Rickman, but the plot here is a one-trick pony.
Hugely frustrating. Did not enjoy at all.

This is a thriller. But it is a thriller based on the old moral question, the rights of one versus the rights of many. It will have you on the edge of your seat.
Lovely to see Alan Rickman in his final rule. I'm not sure why this wasn't more popular. And as always, Helen Mirren was understated and completely believable in her role.

This is an operation to capture, not kill. Your job is to be their eye in the sky.

Colonel, our intelligence only has them arriving in another half hour.
-- Well, then our intelligence is bad.

Showman 5-0, we need an eye inside that house. I have to know if Danford is inside, and who is with her.
--Ma'am, it would mean putting a man in the street, and you'd have to get close to control the beetle. It would easily raise suspicion.
What, even if you use a Somali?
--Every stranger is suspicious, even a Somali.

Has there ever been a British-led drone attack on a city in a friendly country that is not at war? General?
--I do not believe so, no.
Then how can we sanction it?
===
We have a situation here which could result in massive loss of life in the next 10 minutes.
--Then use those 10 minutes and get the Secretary's approval. That is my decision, General.
===
Are we clear to engage, yes or no? Come on, make a decision.
--With respect, ma'am, I don't make those decisions. I'm here to advise you on the law! The law is not here to get in your way, it is here to protect you, and to protect your target.

Sir, you must act now. You have two men about to embark on a suicide mission. You have number two, four, and five on the President's East Africa kill list in your sights, and you are putting the whole mission at risk because of one collateral damage issue?

Angela, is it you or me who will be invited onto the Today program to explain why we knew of the attack on a shopping center that killed 80 people, but chose to do nothing to stop it? You, James.
--But frankly, politically, I'd rather point to Al-Shabab as murderers of 80 people shopping than have to defend a drone attack by our forces that
kills an innocent child.
--James, Angela makes a compelling point. If Al-Shabab kill 80 people,
we win the propaganda war. If we kill one child, they do.

Foreign Secretary, it is our task to make the right military decision. We cannot engage in an argument about possible future postings on YouTube.
--With respect, General, revolutions are fueled by postings on YouTube.

What you witnessed today with your coffee and biscuits is terrible. What these men would've done would've been even more terrible. Never tell a soldier that he does not know the cost of war.
