A collection of military oil paintings and profiles presents the stories of post-9/11 veterans, their experiences on the battlefield, road to recovery, and continuing contributions as civilians.
President George W. Bush presents a collection of oil paintings and stories of servicemen and women who have served our nation with honor since 9/11-- and whom he has come to know personally. Growing out of his own outreach, and the ongoing work of the George W. Bush Institutes's Military Service Initiative, each painting is accompanied by the inspiring story of the veteran depicted. These stories of courage and resilience honor our men and women in uniform, highlight their family and caregivers who bear the burden of their sacrifice, and help Americans understand how we can support our veterans and empower them to succeed.

More of a coffee table book than an good read.

I applaud George W. Bush for finding another passion in life following his presidency and the sincere amount of help that he provides for veterans. So basically, I loved the idea of this book and the paintings and such, but it just got so repetitive in the write up about each veteran, that it lost it's meaning a bit? Still great to look through it, but reading it cover-to-cover was not the most engaging experience.
