A honest, realistic story, this novel tells of the tenth grade of Lucy Linh Lam, which is a fresh start for her in a complete new environment, the prestigious girls Catholic school Laurinda. I loved how Lucy's personal letters were so down-to-earth, that makes you able to relate and this character. This book truly reflects the life of an Asian living in a Western country, and having to not be influenced by all the biased thoughts and stereotyping people. It might drag a bit in the middle, but overall I think it is well worth the four and a half stars.

This is a great book with a strong voice and a superb message. That said, I didn't like reading it as much as I would've liked, because I can't stand mean girls, and this book centers on a trio of them and their grim behavior.
