Tonker and Minnie Cassands' garden party proceeds as planned, even after the death of the eccentric Mr. William Faraday. But after a second death, of a tax inspector that wasn't very well-liked, the Cassands still intend to carry on with their party. Albert Campion notices, however, that all the fuss surrounding the festivities provides perfect cover for more sinister activities.

An English village is planning a party, and a local celebrity dies. When a body is found beneath a bridge, the detective Campion tries to find a connection between the two deaths. The plot was good, but I got lost in the local dialect, sometimes losing the meaning of an entire paragraph.
