Andreas and Stefan lead a happy and passionate life: together with their beloved tomcat Moses, they live in a beautiful old house in Vienna's vineyards. They work as a musician and as a scheduler in the same orchestra and they love their large circle of friends. An unexpected and inexplicable outburst of violence suddenly shakes up the relationship and calls everything into question, the blind spot that resides in all of us.

I felt the impact of this movie for several days after, & I had a hard time understanding why. On paper the synopsis wouldn't seem like much, & without giving away the central defining act of the film...was it because the incredible tenderness at the beginning was *so tender & then irretrievably gone? Is the intimacy you claim to want really just an elaborate bait & switch with all the personal darkness the other person is carrying around? Is real forgiveness really possible?, a full restoration of trust, after something like this? Why did it take so long for them to talk about it? Their touching satyrian play, dancing to the jazz music after the dinner party, ought to be lifted out & transferred to a completely different movie that isn't such a buzzkiller, because. Hahaha. But then also the scene where the one dude's at soccer club & he breaks down sobbing in horrible sadness & both teams clear the field to comfort him. Maybe that's what did it. CR

Interesting movie about gay love, but you should check out the reviews online before seeing this. You might not want to. You can't un-see it once you've seen it and it may be disturbing to quite a few people. I was surprised that it wasn't rated R with so much explicit male nudity, but then it is a European film, set in Austria, in German with English subtitles. Definitely NOT for children or family viewing. I would not recommend it for cat lovers either, even adult ones, although it is an award winning film and the cat is the best actor! From a psychological point of view, there's a lot to analyze, so best to approach it with that in mind.
