Great story that looks at all of the ways a child could handle a bad situation and all of the emotions they could go through. Also looks into how the way people want to help isn't always the help that you need. A very sweet book.

The Rabbit Listened is beautiful in its simplicity, story and illustrations. I'm always impressed when a picture book is able to simplify a complex and/or difficult topic. The subject tackled here is how to support someone whose world has come crashing down. This is an excellent book for ages 3 and up. It would be wonderful if we could all learn to listen like the rabbit does.

Here is a picture book that is just as instructive for adults as it is for children. A tender and encouraging read, "The Rabbit Listened" subtly describes the many stages of grief and how one can best help a friend who is hurting. The illustrations are gentle and make great use of white space. Keep your Kleenex handy for the ending!

This sweet book with beautiful illustrations shows children how they can manage their feelings with the help of a supportive friend who really knows how to listen.

Very good book on reacting to personal tragedy.

The animals in this book represent responses many of us have to someone telling us they have a problem. We often try to solve it for them. In many cases, people just need someone to listen. That's what the rabbit does. The rabbit doesn't rush to try to change Taylor's feelings, but rather, lets Taylor go through the process of feeling and reacting to the situation himself. The rabbit provides support without telling Taylor what to do. I think this book provides a great lesson to people of all ages: to allow others to learn to work through issues on their own, but without making them feel alone.

A stunning and honest picture book that left me completely misty eyed and rushing to share with my best friends, saying, "You are my rabbit! Thank you!"

How do your friends help you during difficult times? #coping. Great resource book for all ages.

Warning: warm fuzzies galore! You might want to keep a box of tissues close by as you read this touching story of a rabbit who knows just how to help support someone who is upset. Not only would this book make a great choice for one-on-one reading between child and caregiver, or a good pick for Family Storytime, but I'd use this book as an allegory for grownups in an HR training. We all could use a reminder that sometimes it's best to just be fully present for others and to let them work out their feelings in their own time.
