This was my first Brene Brown book. It won't be my last.

My first thought of "vulnerability" is weakness... but Brene teaches us that vulnerability is a good thing. It's putting yourself out there, showing up, saying "I love you" first, being seen. This book is chock-full of interesting stories and examples, some from Brene's own life. Whether you're an educator, a parent, single, married, not a parent, I think there is something for every woman within this book. I'm glad I read it, and I'm looking forward to taking what I gleaned back to the workplace with me.

I like this author, she has a lot of interesting research into our social constructs and some of her other books have been illuminating.
This one, not as much. While I am by no means immune from shame, I don't fit many of the molds referenced here, due to circumstances and my wonderful mother. So what I am walking away with is that I need to work on my empathy, because that is lacking (I am not the friend anyone comes to for compassion). Not letting what others think effect my actions so much (people really don't care that much and does it matter if they do?). And not stereotyping men (not a big part of the book but a subject I'm keen on).
