I am so "On the Fence" about this book.
The exotic foodie in me LOVES it!
The practical desert dwelling mom in me says a lot of recipes require fresh expensive seafood that is just not available here.
The cookbook lover in me says "Is it a cookbook? Or an autobiography?"
The artist part of me loves all the pictures, both of the LA area, and the food.
The background story of the chef is interesting to read, and it is well written. The recipes are AMAZING. If you are not on the adventurous side, it may seem a bit overwhelming with things like Oxtail Tacos or Duck Heart Tacos, Tuna Poke and Sea Urchin Tostadas, or Turkey Neck Confit Burrito.
If most of your cooking comes from a box, this is not a cookbook for you.
If you live outside the box, and are looking for some fun new flavors, check this out!
P.S. You may fall in love and have to actually buy it to enjoy it fully.

I loved it. It was not only the food it was the story. The book is very easy to read. The photos gorgeous. I don't know when I enjoyed a cookbook as much as this one.
