Incredibly disappointing film. Casing is poor, particularly the children in the film! The talents of Reese Witherspoon are wasted with this ridiculous storyline and amateurish dialogue. Special effects are very disappointing, ESPECIALLY considering the resources of Disney and Pixar! Some of the costumes and make up are laughable! NOT SURE WHAT THE 100 MILLION WAS SPENT ON BUT IT SURE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A 100 MILLION DOLLAR MOVIE! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

While watching the 2018 movie, A Wrinkle of Time, you can easily tell that it was adapted from a book. Characters are added with little to no explanation, and there's more world building than actual plot. So what's it about? Basically after the disappearance of her father, Meg Murray struggles to find her way in the world. With the help of her little brother Charles Wallace and classmate Calvin, the trio go on a journey to defeat the universe of the evil "it". Personally, I felt like this movie bit off more than it could chew. At points it just felt too caught up in the CGI to actually take a moment and focus on it's main characters. Though I will say, Chris Pine was definitely a win. 3.5 Stars

Watched whole DVD. Merely OK - if you like fantasy stories. Lots of computer generated graphics. Stylized character e.g Oprah and lead 'light-bearer', offering insights Deepak would lover, other two: overly optimistic and script of the third merely quoting spitirual/new age teachers.
It was OK, but I would not be interested in seeing it again...

Not really good. The cast is great, but it's missing something. I fell asleep twice trying to watch this movie.

This movie didn't flow. Standing alone it appears to be a lot of disjointed scenes. No explanation of who Mrs Beast is although they wave to her when they go by. No difficulties finding the father. Not a good movie at all.

If you haven't read the book, this movie is fairly good: it makes sense, has decent acting, and eye-popping CGI.

If you have read the book, however, you may find it a bit lacking as I did. They left a fair bit out and changed some details around. For instance:
1. The Happy Medium is female in the book
2. I always thoughts Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which were older-looking. Oprah was a good fit for Which - although she didn't do the weirdly-talking-thing that Mrs. Which in the book does, where she can't quite form words - but Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon seemed a bit young. I pictured, say, Lily Tomlin or Miriam Margolyes.
3. The twins, Sandy and Dennys, are nowhere to be seen. This makes me think Disney has no plans to turn this into a franchise covering the four books. (I've only read the first, but I know that Many Waters focuses primarily on the twins.)
4. They changed the scenes on Camazotz. There were no giant trees and storms in the book.
5. They changed Calvin's family life. Book Calvin came from a very blue-collar, paycheck-to-paycheck kind of family, which is why he - being so clever - felt out of place.
6. Aunt Beast is only vaguely mentioned. The whole scene with her caring for Meg was omitted.

I realize they were condensing it down to just under two hours, but if they wanted to do it justice, they should've done it in two parts - or, better yet, as a TV series.

I loved the film! Reese Witherspoon was hilarious! But I wanted the romance!

Much better than the first however Oprah Winfrey really made me laugh.

Seeing the story in vivid colors adds appreciation of the story. This movie does have some differences from the book.
