Deaver tells us that video games are no good if they are not fun. The same applies to crime novels. Thank you Jeffery Deaver for Colter Shaw. Good mystery. Good fun. Explains fake news and promises to study hate crimes next. Took me away from the "real" world.

I am now IMPATIENTLY waiting for the sequel to this excellent crime/detective story. His new character, Colter Shaw, is a great creation. My only (personal) dislike in the storyline was Colter's willingness to jump in bed with a young woman who was flirtatious and pushy.

This is one of Mr. Deaver's all time best and I already read all his books. Being from Silicon Valley, Ca. myself it was amazing how he got the area and the problems of homelessness and the high price of living where you work right. I retired fromThe Transportation Authority in the area of this book and personally knew fellow employees who camped out near work and only went home to their families on their days off because the commute was 3 hrs. one way. They would no sooner get home and then it was soon time to do the commute back to work. The research to get a total understanding of the area, the housing dilemma, and the great divide of income and jobs was outstanding. And Colton is a character I want to sit with again very soon. So original and complex.

I always enjoy Jeffery Deaver work -- and this was no exception. Jumping back and forth in time, especially without any notation that it was happening, was distracting for me, but overall once I got into that groove I still enjoyed how the story developed. I look forward to the next one with this protagonist -- it will be interesting to follow Colter's development!

I've enjoyed several of Jeffrey Deaver's books. Read the synopsis on this one and thought, hmm, sounds good. Picked it up and read it in three days. Enjoyed it immensely. Colton Shaw is an intriguing and likeable main character. Was a slight stumble in how the true villain was suddenly in the light, but all in all, well worth the time spent reading it. Cannot wait for the next Colton Shaw.

Definitely not his best, gave up half way through the book. Did Deaver write this or his secretary?

Not a bad book...but Jeffrey Deaver has written better ones....not too sure about the main character Colter Shaw..guess I’m just used to Lincoln Rhyme...

Terrific book! As soon as I finished it, I wanted to read the next one (not yet out). I didn't want to start any new book b/c I knew it could not be as good.

Intense, timely, and door left open for a series. A good read.

This book features a new character with Deaver's usual mystery/thriller style. I enjoyed the story and the character, looking forward to the next installment. It didn't really end on a cliffhanger so that's a bonus too! Deaver does a great job of explaining the world of video gaming without taking away from the adrenaline of the story.
