This magical classic movie is definitely one of my favourites. It tells the story of a young woman, Dorothy who lives with her family on a farm and then an unexpected twister takes her into another world. Trying to go back home, Dorothy meets so many new creatures. Each of these creatures wanting something that they think could make their lives so much better. I love this movie because it takes you into a whole new world! The acting is incredible as well. The main takeaway from this classic movie is that even if you think you aren’t good enough if you truly look deep within yourself, you will find what you’re missing. I think everyone should watch this movie! 5/5 @butterflyreads of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board The Wizard of Oz (1939) was a pretty good film. Considering it was a classic and made right when technicolour was introduced to Hollywood, I found the production very good, and the sets were amazing. I went a long time without seeing this classic film, and I cannot believe it took me this long to finally see it. I really liked the overall message of this film, and my favourite scene was when Dorothy, the Lion, Scarecrow, and Tinman realized the Great and Powerful Wizard was just a man from Kansas! There are several differences between the original novel and film that many are unaware of. For instance, near the end of the film, Dorothy wakes up and realizes that her entire adventure in the Land of Oz was a dream, whereas the novel leads the reader to believe her experiences were real. I would recommend this classic to everyone - I think it is a must-see, and it is actually very funny as well as suspenseful, which is uncommon in older children's films! Rating: 3/5 @Montgomery of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library This movie is an absolute classic, dating all the way back to the 30s. After Dorothy's home is hit with a tornado, her and her dog Toto are brought to the land of Oz, where they encounter the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and the Wicked Witch of the West. Each of these characters have a story to tell and a moral to spread, that makes this movie so appealing to everyone. Dorothy finds her way along the yellow brick road to the Wizard of Oz, so that she can return back home in Kansas. This movie is incredible and timeless, which is why I would rate it 5/5 stars. I recommend it to everyone and anyone. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
