The special effects were virtually nonexistent; clips of a French prototype monorail, jet-pack propelled 'firemen', a cheezy utilitarian firetruck... But this was 1966, and of no surprise. What was enjoyable to me was Bradbury's dystopian story -- almost Orwellian, in that "Big Brother is watching". The firemen had hints of Gestapo. I was constantly reminded of Hitchcock, even though this was science fiction, and thought perhaps it was the '60s flavor of the film. It wasn't until viewing the special features that I realized it was because of the contribution of Hitch's incredible composer, Bernard Herrmann, and his unmistakeable tension building string section. A good film for its time. Somebody should make an updated version, now that books are sadly becoming obsolete, having the firemen burning up the citizens' smartphones... And the 'book people' could be 'androids'...
