Great read! Highly recommend! Straight up youth appeal with the graphic novel. However it doesn't distract from the story, instead it helps you visualize what's going on. I enjoyed the characters were different without being overdone. For example her friend is bi racial, but its not overly emphasized. The shy girl loses her best friend and grieves for her. Then this mysterious comic appears that hints that her friend may not be dead at all. You don't find out till almost the end whether or not she's really alive. There is some computer hacking but not explained in overly technical language. There is a boy that helps, that (gasp) doesn't turn out to be a love interest. There is a climatic reveal without being cheesy. I was happily surprised that this book lived up to its cover. Unique and satisfying.
