I won a copy of this book in the Library's Summer Reading Program this year and I'm very happy that I did. I wouldn't have found this series otherwise, I think. I was surprised to read that the author also writes the Murdoch series, a TV show I really enjoy.
The tone of this book is very much like the Murdoch series: it's warm, the characters are likeable & have real life problems & issues. The mystery is set in it's time (WWII, rural England), as is the crime investigation.
I found this a good, entertaining read and look forward to reading the others in this series. I liken this to a cozy mystery. Interesting story, characters and a good dash of real life.
I will donate the book back to the library and hope someone else enjoys it.
