This series has grown on me as I have read it. In book #13, Barry Laverty is a partner in the medical practice with Doctor O'Reilly in a small Irish village in 1964. More doctors have been added to the practice so life is a bit less hectic. The pace is slow but regular. In this book, there are two main medical issues--problem in conceiving and the need by a Catholic patient to prevent another conception. For the first time, the author has added information on the political divisions In Ireland. It is done in such a way that it is integrated well in the story and also provides the reader with good background information on the Ulster issues. Right at the beginning of the book, a small family house is consumed with fire and throughout the book, there are heartwarming stories of how people of the community, both Catholic and Protestant, work together to help the family. I do like fiction that helps me learn or relearn about history that I have long forgotten....
