Near perfection as both real life and film life come together to tell the tale of Mexican drug smuggler's, sex traffficker's and politicians take over villages leaving behind ghost towns, ghosts and orphaned children forced to fend for themselves. Told through the perspective of several children, six boys and a courteous little girl named Estrella, whose mother has become a latest victim. "Tiger's are not afraid," is a term oft told by Shine, the eldest boy, whom has become both caretaker and protector of the others. He tells them bedtime stories about a fearless tiger and a Prince and when real life danger follows he tells them, "Tiger's are not afraid." Until reality and fairytale life clash causing a cataclysmic shift in all these children's lives.
The film is based on a novel of the same name but also inspired by real life incidents where in Mexico it's said some 13,000 children are left abandoned each year due to those parents disappeared. A real life nightmare.
