Set in Vancouver in 1984, as Soviet warships swarm the Atlantic, the story revolves around a teenage girl in the aftermath of her father's desertion of the family. Fierce, rebellious, independent, Gerry's vulnerability also shines through as she struggles with where she belongs, as well as with her sexual identity.
